SALARY: $4,750 – $5,833 per month

THE POSITION

The position of Sewer Operator II (SO) works under the supervision of the Chief Plant Operator, primarily at the Districts wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). The duties include but are not limited to: monitoring wastewater treatment operations and equipment, performing required sampling and lab work, operating and maintaining WWTF equipment, performing mathematical calculations as required by assigned duties, maintaining records, preparing reports, and performing inspections of facilities and equipment at the WWTF. Other duties include, conducting maintenance on the District’s sewer collection system and having a general understanding of the Districts pretreatment operations. The position also requires the SO to work some weekends and be on-call on a rotational basis.

THE REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications in order to be eligible for the position:

High School Diploma or GED completion and hold a valid Wastewater Treatment Operator Certificate, Grade 2, issued by the California State Resources Control Board; and have at least two (2) years of full-time work experience working at a WWTF. A successful must be able to work independently and supervise other operators as assigned.

Applicants must attach a copy of their valid Grade II wastewater certification with their application.

Possession and continued maintenance of a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License. Candidates considered for hire must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and current copy of their driving record.

The SO is considered a safety sensitive position under the District Substance Abuse Policy and as such, the SO is subject to pre-employment drug screening, and other drug testing requirements under the District Substance Abuse Policy.
